Tonto National Forest – Lower Salt River

I took a short ride east of Phoenix, Arizona today along the Lower Salt River.  It’s part of the Tonto National Forest.

The time was high noon with the temperature over 100 degrees.  Not the best time to take pictures.  But here’s a few anyway!  The mountain is “Red Mountain”, located on the North side of the river.  Just about every Saguaro cactus I saw had a few flowers blooming.

  2. Sounds like a nice, toasty ride! :p

  3. Love the desert landscape. Beautiful area!

  4. I love the arid areas of Australia. I recon I would love to ride through there as well.
I have never seen photo’s of the cactus’s flowering there. I’m sure it would be like ours and come to life with color for a short but picturesque time.
