Northern California and Southern Oregon – A Few Photos

On my way from Northern CA to OR.  I didn’t take many photos this day, just a few.

I don’t remember exactly where I was when I took this photo, somewhere in Northern California getting close to the Oregon Border.  I remember it went from hot to nice and cool riding through here with the shade from the trees.

Along Highway 101 in Southern Oregon.

Another nice view of the Pacific Ocean along Highway 101 in Oregon.  (I really should keep notes of exactly where I take my photos!).

This was taken in Coos Bay, Oregon just South of North Bend, Oregon.  It’s a ship from China taking on a load of wood chips.

I was told me these wood chips were being taken to China to be turned in to paper.

Looking North along a railroad track by the Chinese ship.  Heading North towards Washington now.

The Rock Store & Neptunes Net in CA

Here’s a few photos of a ride I took out to the Rock Store with some friends.  Jay Leno has been known to show up here once and a while to show off his motorcycles and cars.  Unfortunately for us, he did not make an appearance this weekend.  Inside the Rock Store’s gift shop, there are dozens of photos of movie stars and famous people on the wall with their signatures who have been there.  We also rode over to  Neptune’s Net in Malibu, CA.  I grew up near both of these places in High School.  We use to go to Neptune’s Net all the time after going to the beach and “Trying to Surf”!  We never really got the hang of it.  Back then, this place wasn’t so popular.  If you’re in the area, both of these places are worth a visit.  Weekends are the most popular with us motorcyclists.

Torrey Pines Golf Course.  I’m not a golfer, but this grass was so green I had to take a couple of photos.  Thats the ocean in in the background barely visible from this view.

Whale Watching and the Day my New Camera (only 2 weeks old) was Drowned by Salt Water! Check out these PHOTOS!!!

This may be the last blog entry for a few days.

I was taking some photos of a few whales swimming by.  I foolishly thought that if I moved closer to the edge of the rocks I could get a better photo!  After all, the waves were only splashing a little bit over the rocks while I had been there.  So, I moved up to about 5 or 6 feet from the edge.  Put the camera to my eye and started taking photos.  The last thing I remember was a wave in my view finder and then feeling the wave go completely over my head!  And it was cold!  My Canon camera was only about 2 weeks old, and as you can see by the photo, not the waterproof version.  Water damage isn’t included in the warranty, and neither is the occasional Rogue Wave!  Time for a new camera (again). This trip has proven to be a little more expensive than I planned.  Oh well, at least I have some nice photos to show for it.

The last photo was taken by my brother just after the wave got me.  He was smart enough to be standing on higher ground.  He was laughing so hard I’m surprised he was able to take a picture.  Too bad he wasn’t taking a video at the time.  It may have been a hit on YouTube!
