Misc Pics (Motorcycle Touring & Camping)
Rolls up nice and small for motorcycle camping.
“I took this cot to Sturgis, SD and used it in my tent along with the self inflating sleeping pad shown below. I found it to be quite comfortable. I highly recommend these two items for camping. I purchased the cot through Amazon and the sleeping pad from REI.”
Nice and compact.
According to Kermit’s website, “The “Kermit Chair” has been the camp chair of choice for BMW motorcycle campers”. After reading this, I searched online for some reviews. The only negative comments I could find was the chair was expensive. Everyone loved their Kermit. I even searched on eBay to see if anyone was selling theirs. I couldn’t find any. This tells me, people like their Kermit chair so much they aren’t selling them. (I thought you could fine anything on eBay.)
They’re a little bit expensive, but after a long day of riding and settling into a campground, the last thing I want to do is sit on a log or picnic bench. The quality of workmanship is excellent and I’m not disappointed.
“This is my choice for a camp chair.” I purchased it from Kermit’s website.
Kelty Canopy House. 10′ x 10′. Fits into a small bag and easy to take along for motorcycle camping.
“I used this item during bike week in Sturgis, SD and found it very easy to set up. It provided nice shade and extra protection when it rained one night. I recommend this item for camping. I purchased this item through Amazon.”
Garmin Zumo 550 GPS. Easy to use and “glove friendly”.
“I used this Garmin on my motorcycle and in my truck. It has proven very useful to me when I’m in a new city or an unfamiliar area. I purchased this item on eBay from a Harley-Davidson dealer at a better price than my local H-D dealer was selling them for.”
Made in the USA by Diamond Gusset. They have Kevlar sewn in for safety.
Quote from Diamond Gusset’s website: “The USA-made Defender jean covers you where it counts, yet is so comfortable you may forget you’re wearing abrasion protection. That’s because only Defender has flexible woven Kevlar in the seat, hips, and knees, and our trademark gusset in the crotch. Plus, there are Velcro closures at the ankle and extra pockets.”
“”Levis” has always been my jean of choice. It’s not easy for me to admit this, but Diamond Gusset jeans have impressed me. Enough so, that I now own a few pair. I’ve made my purchases through Diamond Gusset’s website.”
REI Half Dome 2 Plus tent. Rolls up small enough to take motorcycle camping. Make sure to buy the “footprint” to put under the tent to make the floor last longer.
“I used this tent on my last trip to Sturgis SD during bike week. It rained very hard one night and didn’t leak at all. Of course I had the rain fly in place. I recommend this tent. I’ve not been disappointed. I purchased it from REI.”
Good motorcycle magazine. On and off road touring ideas.
“My favorite motorcycle touring magazine.”
Very good book. Edition 1 of more to follow.
“I purchased this item on Amazon.”
A quote I found on the internet, “The Thermarest BaseCamp Sleeping Pad is the most deluxe self-inflating mattress that Thermarest offers. Durable, warm, and long-lasting, this inflatable mattress won’t let you down in the backcountry.”
This is my choice for a self inflating sleeping pad.
“I took this sleeping pad to Sturgis, SD and used it in my tent along with the cot shown above. I found it to be quite comfortable. I highly recommend these two items for camping. I purchased the cot through Amazon and the sleeping pad from REI.”
