I took a day off from work and decided to take a ride.  I rode over to Roosevelt Lake in Arizona.  I’ve never been to this lake before.  Here’s a few photos of the Lake, Dam and Bridge.

It sure was a nice day for a ride.  190 miles round trip and temperatures in the high 80’s.

Mining Camp Restaurant

Posted in Motorcycles on February 21, 2016 by DRF

My latest ride took me to the historic Mining Camp Restaurant located at 6100 E Mining Camp St, Apache Junction AZ 85119.

This is a favorite of ours.  Located near the Superstition Mountains.  Inside you’ll find a gift shop at the entrance, and two different choices for dining.  One section has a restaurant style seating with booths and tables for a more intimate setting.  Another section is “family style”.  The large room is full of picnic style tables where your food is brought out in large portions and placed in the center of the table for everyone to share.

If you decide to go, be sure and check the website for their hours.  They change depending on the time of year you plan to visit.

I took more photos of the two dining areas, but for some reason WordPress keeps giving me error messages when I try to upload them.  The only inside photo is the last one here showing the entrance to the gift shop.

I took a ride over to the Superstition Mountain Museum.  They’re located to the east of Phoenix, AZ in the east valley, close to Apache Junction.  A nice place with a great view of the Superstition Mountains.

I won’t go into detail about this place, if you’re interested, just click on the link in the fist paragraph to see their website.

Here’s a few photos:

Another patch added to my vest.  I’m almost out of room.  Over the years I’ve added, removed and replaced various patches, keeping the ones that mean the most to me.

Anyone else have a motorcycle vest that they’re proud of?  I’ve spent quite a few years adding to mine.  Maybe in another post I’ll show the different patches on the front & rear and their significance to me.  Each patch brings back memories.  Kind of like going back through my motorcycle journal that I’ve keep over the years on my trips.  Lots of good memories.

Here in Arizona it’s not unusual to see a Horse, Car and Motorcycle in the same parking lot.

This was the first time I’ve stopped at  The Hitching Post  Pizza Pub in Apache Junction, AZ  (Near the Superstition Mountains).  A nice place with plenty of seating inside and outside on the raised deck patio.   It seemed to be a popular place.  You can’t tell by this photo, but there were more motorcycles in the parking lot than cars on this Saturday afternoon.  I’m sure I’ll be back.

Motorcycle Etiquette

As a longtime motorcycle rider, this makes me Crazy!  Parking your motorcycle in the middle of a automobile parking space!  There’s plenty of room to put 2 motorcycles here!

This is the parking lot where I work,  On more than one occasion, I’ve mentioned to the guy who owns this motorcycle if he would just park on one side or the other, 2 bikes could fit in one space. Parking is at a premium here and if the first rider is fortunate enough to get a spot close the to building, it sure would help out the next rider from having to park so far away.  I call this Motorcycle Etiquette.

Just my opinion of course!

I took a ride over to Buddy Stubbs Motorcycle Museum today.  I’ve been wanting to go here for quite a while and finally found the time to do it.  This display has 35 different Motorcycle Manufacturers on display.  I don’t know how many motorcycles there were, but a at least a few hundred.

Buddy Stubbs Arizona Motorcycle Museum is worth stopping by if your in the area.  It’s located inside the dealership just to the left as you enter the building.  A very nice selection to look at.  I heard one of the employees say the oldest motorcycle on display is from 1918.

Located at: 13850 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ  85022
