Northern California and Southern Oregon – A Few Photos

On my way from Northern CA to OR.  I didn’t take many photos this day, just a few.

I don’t remember exactly where I was when I took this photo, somewhere in Northern California getting close to the Oregon Border.  I remember it went from hot to nice and cool riding through here with the shade from the trees.

Along Highway 101 in Southern Oregon.

Another nice view of the Pacific Ocean along Highway 101 in Oregon.  (I really should keep notes of exactly where I take my photos!).

This was taken in Coos Bay, Oregon just South of North Bend, Oregon.  It’s a ship from China taking on a load of wood chips.

I was told me these wood chips were being taken to China to be turned in to paper.

Looking North along a railroad track by the Chinese ship.  Heading North towards Washington now.

San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge.  It was an adventure riding over it on my motorcycle.  It was so windy I couldn’t hold a straight line.  I must say it was a little nerve racking to say the least!

A view from the North side of the bridge on the East side looking South

Another view with a jetty and a few boats below the bridge

Another view with a few of the jetty and a few boats

This was taken on the North side of the bridge on the West side looking down.  By the time I got up here, I was only able to get a glimpse of the bridge for a few seconds due to the clouds/fog.  It was very windy day.

It was a pretty nice day here in San Francisco.  Too bad the bridge got fogged in when I went up the hill to try and get a photo looking down.

Alice’s Resturant – Woodside, CA

This place, Alice’s Resturant has been on my “bucket list” for a few years now.  I finally made it.  It’s located South of San Francisco in Woodside, CA.

It’s my understanding this restaurant was named after the song by “Arlo Guthrie” titled “Alice’s Resturant Massacree”, most commonly referred to as “Alice’s Resturant”.  The song is based on a true story and was released in 1967.

For those in my age bracket!, you know it…  “You can get anything you want at Alice’s Resturant…”

Not many people here this morning.  It get’s very busy on the weekends though.

By the time I left, a few bikes and cars were arriving.

It’s a nice restaurant with a lot of memorabilia on the walls.

The food was excellent here!

Of course I has to get a shot with my motorcycle in the frame!

As you can see, by bike is loaded down for this trip.  Next stop San Francisco, CA.

Downtown Morro Bay, CA.

A beautiful day for a ride in Southern California.

The above photos were taken in Morro Bay, CA on my latest ride.  The home of “Morro Rock” located just offshore.   According to Wikipedia, it’s a 581-foot “Volcanic Plug”.  I’m not sure what that means exactly, but it sure is impressive.

Here’s a few photos near Pismo Beach, CA along the Pacific Coast Highway.  It was a nice warm sunny day.  Next stop will be Morro Bay, CA with a few photos of Morro Rock.  Sure was a nice day for a motorcycle ride!

The Rock Store & Neptunes Net in CA

Posted in Beach, California, Food, Malibu, Motorcycle Parking, Motorcycle Rides, Motorcycles, Restaurant on August 28, 2017 by DRF

Here’s a few photos of a ride I took out to the Rock Store with some friends.  Jay Leno has been known to show up here once and a while to show off his motorcycles and cars.  Unfortunately for us, he did not make an appearance this weekend.  Inside the Rock Store’s gift shop, there are dozens of photos of movie stars and famous people on the wall with their signatures who have been there.  We also rode over to  Neptune’s Net in Malibu, CA.  I grew up near both of these places in High School.  We use to go to Neptune’s Net all the time after going to the beach and “Trying to Surf”!  We never really got the hang of it.  Back then, this place wasn’t so popular.  If you’re in the area, both of these places are worth a visit.  Weekends are the most popular with us motorcyclists.

New Motorcycle Tires

Posted in Arizona, Harley-Davidson, Motorcycle, Motorcycle Maintenance, Motorcycle Tires, Motorcycles, Phoenix, Phoenix AZ on July 18, 2017 by DRF

In preparation for my upcoming 4000+ mile trip, I decided to have a new set of tires installed.  My old tires probably would have lasted another 2,000 miles or so, but I don’t want to have to stop somewhere along the trip and have it done.  My father told me a long time ago, he always made sure he kept good tires on his car since they’re so important.  Motorcycles even more so with only 2 wheels!

For anyone in the Phoenix, AZ area, I recommend this place, “Mototire“.  This is the second time I’ve used them.  Fast and friendly service.

I had an appointment at 9:00 am, and the tires were installed in about 45 minutes.  I had the original tires put back on, Dunlap.  Same tires I would have got at the dealer, except about $50 cheaper.  Plus as a bonus, Dunlap has a $50 rebate going on right now on the purchase and install of a set.

A whole lot of tread going on here!

This was parked out front!

Here’s the business card for Mototire.  This is NOT a paid endorsement or anything like that, I’m just sharing the information for the business that in my opinion provides a good service at a fair price.
